Network & Telephony Architect (12-Month FTC)


Salary: £65,000 – £70,000


Location: Shrewsbury (Multi-site)

  • Shrewsbury Business Park (SY2 6LG)
  • Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (SY3 8XQ)
  • Princess Royal Hospital (TF1 6TF)


Working Pattern: Hybrid (onsite as required)


Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Network & Telephony Architect to support key digital transformation initiatives. This role combines technical leadership and hands-on delivery, working across network infrastructure and telephony systems.

You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and improving enterprise network and communication solutions, while leading and supporting junior team members.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement enterprise network and telephony solutions
  • Lead technology upgrades, migrations, and transformation projects
  • Provide technical leadership and support to junior engineers
  • Deliver network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, and wireless
  • Configure and manage:
  • Firewalls and network security
  • Network Access Control (NAC)
  • VoIP systems (physical and softphone)
  • Ensure systems are secure, scalable, and resilient
  • Manage multiple projects from planning through to delivery
  • Identify, assess, and manage technical risks
  • Produce clear documentation and architecture designs


Key Technologies

Experience in several of the following:

  • Aruba Networking (switching & wireless)
  • Aruba ClearPass (NAC)
  • FreeRADIUS
  • Cisco and Fortigate Firewalls
  • Mitel VoIP systems
  • Netcall


Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in network architecture and telephony systems
  • Experience delivering enterprise-level infrastructure projects
  • Strong knowledge of network security and firewalls
  • Ability to balance hands-on work with leadership responsibilities
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills


Working Arrangements

  • Hybrid working with flexibility for remote work
  • Onsite presence required for physical tasks and project delivery
  • No fixed onsite days – attendance based on business needs
