Senior Machinist

H-Power is looking for a Senior Machinist

Job description

H-Power is a UK-based, AIM-listed clean energy company developing zero-emissions hydrogen power systems. Using ammonia to produce low-carbon hydrogen at the point of need, and fuel cells to convert it into reliable, off-grid power, H-Power offers a scalable, practical alternative to fossil fuels, serving construction, infrastructure, transport and power generation sectors.

Behind the technology is a team driven by a shared purpose: to accelerate the shift away from fossil fuels.

H-Power is looking for an experienced Senior Machinist to take a lead role in the Machine Shop. You'll manage CNC programming and operations, CAD/CAM design work and tooling management playing a vital part in delivering the high-precision components that underpin H-Power's clean energy technology.

This role would suit a skilled machinist who is comfortable working independently, contributing to design decisions and taking ownership of machine shop resources and output quality.

Responsibilities include:

  • Programming, setting and operating 3 and 5-axis CNC machinery to produce high-precision components
  • Using CAD/CAM software (Fusion 360 / SolidWorks) to create and optimise machining programmes, fixtures and components
  • Machining complex prototype and low-volume components, including exotic and high nickel alloy materials
  • Operating manual turning and milling machinery where required
  • Managing tooling, materials and consumables inventory to support machine shop output
  • Maintaining accurate machining records, crib sheets and build documentation
  • Contributing to design reviews, manufacturability discussions and route-to-manufacture planning
  • Supporting the development and continuous improvement of machine shop capability
  • Supporting prototype builds, test hardware and subsystem manufacture as required

We’re keen to speak with people with experience in:

  • Strong hands-on CNC machining experience, including 5-axis programming and operation
  • CAD/CAM programming using Fusion 360, SolidWorks or similar
  • Siemens and/or Mazatrol machine controls
  • Machining precision prototype or low-volume engineered components
  • Working with stainless steel, exotic alloys or high nickel materials
  • Manual turning and milling to tight tolerances
  • Inspection using standard metrology equipment
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Stable engineering/manufacturing background within aerospace, motorsport, defence, advanced manufacturing or similar precision engineering environments

Package & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary
  • Performance bonus scheme
  • Company Share Option Scheme
  • Bupa private healthcare
  • Contributory pension
  • 25 days annual leave + bank holidays
  • Life insurance
  • Flexible working hours | 37.5 hrs/week
  • Employer-funded training: induction, H&S, CPD, management & compliance
  • Up to 4 weeks contractual sick pay per rolling 12 months
