Healthcare Support Worker (Term time only)Looking for a varied and rewarding term-time only role?

We're recruiting a part-time Healthcare Support Worker (22.5 hours/week, term-time only) to join our School Aged Immunisation Service, based in East Oxford Health Centre, working flexibly across the City and south of Oxfordshire.

We're looking for a proactive, adaptable, and motivated individual with strong administration and clinical skills. We also seek experience working with children or young people, ideally in schools.

Flexibility is essential, with some early starts (from 07:30), evening/weekend work, and travel across Oxfordshire as needed.

To be eligible, applicants must meet at least one of the following:

Trained and worked as a vaccinator in a COVID/vaccination centre

Level 3+ on the NHS Careers Framework with a minimum of 2 years clinical experience working in NHS/Primary Care/Dental or Community Health Care settings

Level 3+ and recent immunisation role experience

Main duties of the jobYour role will be to support the School Aged Immunisation team in organising, managing and delivering the school‐based immunisation programme in all schools.

You will attend immunisation sessions in schools and community clinics to provide administrative support and, as part of your role as Healthcare Support Worker, you will administer the Flu vaccinations to young people following the supply of the vaccine by an appropriately Registered Healthcare Professional.

Attendance at vaccination sessions to observe students who may feel unwell post‐vaccination is also required. Full training will be provided.

The role requires travel to schools and community venues; you must have access to a car and be a driver. If necessary, adjustments may be considered in line with the Equality Act 2010. Mileage from base will be paid.

Job responsibilitiesThis role will support the service in achieving a high uptake of vaccinations within a safe environment and includes liaison with schools and families to arrange vaccination sessions and to provide information to parents to enable them to give informed consent for vaccinations.

The postholder will support the storage, transportation and delivery of vaccines and equipment (e.g. Collect and return vaccines to storage areas, and ensure correct disposal of used clinical equipment).

The postholder will ensure strict data and patient record confidentiality.

Good communication and organisational skills are essential.
