Band 3 Community Healthcare Assistant vacancy for Dorchester District Nursing service.

We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual with good communication skills and a passion for caring for patients in their own homes to join our friendly team. Experience of clinical work in the community is desirable but training will be offered to the successful applicant.

Main duties of the job

Visit patients in their own homes to provide clinical care, including wound care, phlebotomy and other extended skills once proficient.

Work under the supervision and support of the team, following the team leader's or nominated deputy's instructions and the care plan to provide evidence‐based, high quality, holistic nursing care for patients in their own homes and care homes.

Undertake the in‐house development programme for extended skills, involving insulin administration, other injectables and catheterisation.

Requirements and expectations

Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check required; the Trust will cover the cost.

Access to a car with a valid driving licence; able to travel using own vehicle on Trust business.

Willing and able to apply existing experience to community and gain necessary skills to work effectively in the community setting.

Willing to professionally develop and undertake further training as identified to meet the needs of the service, including Trust Band 3 Extended Skills programme and Care Certificate.

Excellent interpersonal skills.

Desire to work in the primary‐care setting.

Ability to work alone.

Community/Acute Hospital experience.

Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English to a standard which enables the post holder to carry out the full range of duties and responsibilities of the role effectively.

Disclosure and Barring Service check, including Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975, will be submitted to confirm no previous criminal convictions.
