Role SummaryThe Senior Medical Affairs Manager/ Field-Based Lead is a medical/scientific expert responsible for external scientific engagement and driving Medical Affairs strategy for the UK vaccines portfolio based on insights in vaccines area. Up to 50% of the role focuses on external engagement with key opinion leaders, healthcare organisations, policy stakeholders, and scientific bodies. This role integrates strategic medical leadership with scientific exchange, insight generation, and external representation of Seqirus at national scientific forums.

Key Responsibilities – External Engagement

Build and maintain strategic scientific relationships with national KOLs, HCOs, immunisation committees, and public health bodies.

Lead high-quality scientific exchange on influenza and vaccine-related evidence.

Represent Seqirus at congresses, advisory boards, symposia, and scientific meetings.

Capture, analyse, and communicate external insights to shape UK medical strategy.

Serve as senior scientific spokesperson for Seqirus in the UK.

Medical Strategy & Scientific Leadership

Lead development and execution of the UK Medical Affairs strategy and support the overall brand strategy.

Shape the scientific narrative, identify knowledge gaps, and prioritise evidence needs.

Support submissions to Joint Committee for Vaccination and Immunization (JCVI) and other National Immunization Advisory Groups (NITAG).

Collaborate across Market Access, Government Affairs, Regulatory, HEOR, Commercial, and Communications teams.

Provide expert medical input and ensure ABPI-compliant review/approval of materials.

Evidence and Insights Generation & Scientific Projects

Support gathering of insights and real-world evidence generation, collaborative studies, and Investigator's Initiated Studies (IIS) proposals.

Lead advisory boards, medical education programmes, and scientific initiatives.

Contribute to publication planning and dissemination of scientific data.

Internal Collaboration & Expertise

Act as senior internal expert on vaccines, influenza, and respiratory pathogens.

Provide medical leadership for launches, issues management, and strategic planning.

Deliver internal scientific training to ensure medical alignment across functions.

Compliance & Governance

Ensure adherence to ABPI Code and Seqirus governance standards. ABPI final signatory qualifications preferable.

Experience in writing scientific documents, e.g., submission dossiers for JCVI, regulatory bodies etc.

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

Advanced scientific/medical degree (MD, PhD, PharmD or equivalent).

Extensive experience in vaccines, infectious diseases and Medical Affairs leadership are preferable.

Proven ability to engage national-level experts and scientific societies and relationship-building skills.

Strong communication, scientific presentation and scientific writing skills.

Demonstrated leadership in complex matrix environments, agility, and strategic mindset.
