Interviews scheduled 2nd and 3rd June 2026. We work on a two‐week rota and have the following set shifts available.Schedule Week 1Monday: 18:30–23:00Tuesday: 18:30–23:00Saturday: 08:00–13:00, 13:00–18:00, 18:00–23:00Sunday: 18:00–23:00Week 2Saturday: 08:00–13:00, 13:00–18:00Sunday: 18:00–23:00Rate of Pay £13.45 to £15.27 per hourYou must have permanent right to work in the UK as we are unable to offer graduate or visa sponsorship, and no visa extensions can be offered for this role.Please apply promptly, as we may close this vacancy earlier than planned if we receive a high volume of responses.Main duties of the job The post holder will work under the supervision of the clinical team and undertake appropriate delegated duties. They will work collaboratively with the team to meet the needs of patients, following policy and procedures to deliver high quality responsive care.The primary responsibility of the HCA will be to provide an initial assessment of patients attending the service including confirmation of identity and presenting complaint, determination of appropriate clinical stream and priority. Undertake vital signs temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respirations, oxygen saturation, blood glucose and urinalysis as required. Patient clinical priority will be established utilising a set of tools validated for use within the service. We provide a range of highly effective urgent primary care services that support hospital admission avoidance and early supported discharge from hospital where clinically safe and appropriate.Employee benefits include: Living Wage EmployerCompetitive rates of payGenerous holiday entitlement, long service enhancements and the option to purchase additional leaveJob responsibilities Job responsibilities HCA duties will include, but are not limited to:Support to the clinicians on dutyA range of clinical tasks such as recording vital signs, blood sugar recording and urinalysis as neededFollowing appropriate training, undertake point of care testing (POCT) as directed by assessing cliniciansChaperoning duties when neededAfter appropriate training, to conduct face to face navigation assessment (for patients presenting to the service with arrival slots and walk in patients)Preparation and maintenance of clinical areas including appropriate stock controlRecord the tasks for which you have received appropriate training using electronic systemsUse early an appropriate warning score (eg NEWS2) to ensure a deteriorating patient is escalated to the appropriate senior person in a timely manner in accordance with policy and procedureGive accurate and appropriate information to patients, relatives and colleagues within the sphere of own competenceAdminister basic life support and use of AED if necessarySupport health professionals in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well‐beingSupport health professionals with awareness of health and well‐being and how it can be promotedAssist with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well‐beingProactively communicate with the team to ensure the smooth running of the shift.Be responsible for prioritisation of consultations as clinically indicated within the shift.Work with colleagues to maximise effective and efficient delivery of care to patients.Record appropriate consultation details on electronic patient records.Liaise with other local services such as the urgent care centre (UCC) should patients require transfer to these services.Follow Mastercalls policies and procedures.Communicate effectively with patients and carers, recognising their needs for alternative methods of communicationCommunicate effectively with other team members and with the wider Mastercall teams.Continuous Professional Development . The post holder will be expected to undertake ongoing personal, clinical and professional development in line with the responsibilities of the post. Responsible for developing and sustaining own knowledge, management, and skills (as appropriate) and professional awareness and maintain a professional profile. Accountable for and maintain own competence to practice along with compliance of mandatory training. Person Specification Experience 2 years previous experience working in primary care or other relevant acute healthcare environment in appropriate services such as A&E, UTC or primary care with patient contact.Experience working under indirect supervisionFamiliarity with the measuring and recording of baseline observations such as blood pressure etc.Demonstrates an understanding of the role of the HCAClinical skills and competency relevant to the roleComputer literate with evidence of IT skillsUnderstand issues regarding accountability and delegationKnowledge of Triage / NavigationQualifications You must have permanent right to work in the UK as we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.NVQ3 level 3 Health & Social care or equivalentAdditional clinical skills trainingGCSE in Maths & English grade 4 or other certificates of general educationUp to date basic life support trainingGeneral Qualities Demonstrates motivation, reliability and commitment to team working and the development of othersFlexible, reliable and responsive to changeWillingness to undergo education/training for both practice and service needsWillingness to work towards professional and performance objectivesExcellent communication skills.
