Acute Medicine Undergraduate Medical Education FellowClosing date: 17 May 2026
We have an exciting new opportunity to become UCLH's Undergraduate Medical Education Fellow in Acute Medicine from August 2026. This is an ideal post for doctors training in any medical specialty with a general internal medicine component looking to undertake an out of programme experience, or doctors looking for opportunities before entering higher specialty training.
This role offers a unique balance of clinical practice and protected time to develop as a medical educator within one of the UK's most dynamic and academically active acute trusts.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will direct the training programme for medical students attached to acute medicine, support the local Undergraduate Medical Education lead, and deliver education while fulfilling registrar-level clinical duties in Acute Medicine.
Administration, delivery and evaluation of high-quality Acute Medicine teaching to students
Completion of supervised learning events assessments
Troubleshooting areas for improvement as identified in student feedback
Facilitation of mock examination stations for students
Participation in student examinations and OSCEs across all year groups and sites
Mentorship and guidance for students expressing keenness to pursue Acute Medicine
Networking to exchange and share ideas and practice among peers
Setting up new student initiatives as demand and capacity allow
Ensuring sustainability of any changes beyond the duration of this post
Clinical duties depending on experience level at Medical SpR level
Additional educational opportunities include participation in a UCL Introduction to Clinical Teaching course, study for postgraduate certification in Medical Education, and building a teaching portfolio to assist in obtaining Higher Education Academy accreditation.
Person SpecificationEducation / Qualifications / Training
Medical Degree
Completion of Core Medical Training or equivalent
Postgraduate Qualification in Teaching / Medical Education
Skills / Abilities
Ability to assess acutely ill patients
Ability to teach and facilitate in a multiprofessional setting
Interest in developing skills in medical education
Experience
MRCP or equivalent
Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practise
Involvement in medical education
Experience of teaching formally and informally
Evidence of innovation in the development and delivery of teaching / educational / trainee wellbeing initiatives
Responsibilities towards promoting Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
Demonstrable understanding of the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion and/or Knowledge of the NHS obligations under the Equality Act 2010 and the Public Sector Equality Duties

Salary: £65,048 a year + London weighting (+ out-of-hours)
