Position TitleHealth Care Support Worker – Band 3

Location and Working Pattern

Permanent position, 36 hours per week.

Shift pattern: rotational, mixture of early/late and 12‐hour shifts.

Based at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Responsibilities

Assist registered nurses and clinical team in the care of patients undergoing elective surgical procedures.

Support admission, transfer and discharge processes in line with procedures.

Monitor and record vital signs, reporting changes or concerns promptly.

Assist with basic wound care, dressing application, and minor procedures such as urinalysis and specimen collection.

Provide personal care support including hygiene, nutrition, hydration and safe patient repositioning.

Maintain a clean, safe and well‐stocked clinical environment, reporting faults and concerns.

Contribute to accurate patient documentation and ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies, including infection control, COSHH, fire safety, and manual handling.

Qualifications and Experience

SVQ Level 2 or willing to achieve within first year of employment.

Relevant experience in a caring environment.

Completion of mandatory induction standards for Health Care Support Workers in Scotland.

Compliance with the Code of Conduct throughout employment.

Training and DevelopmentAccess to training opportunities to advance skills within the ward setting, supported by experienced team members.
