Health Care Assistant - Durham (DH1, DH4 & DH6)

Job locations across villages: Belmont, Bowburn, Carville, Crossgate Moor, Croxdale, Durham Central, Gilesgate, Haswell, High Pittington, High Shincliffe, Ludworth, Pity Me Shadforth, Sherburn Hill, Sherburn Village, Nevilles Cross, Newton Hall.

Responsibilities

Promote independence and care for service users in their own home.

Encourage service users to be actively involved in all aspects of daily care.

Accompany service users to appointments and help access local community.

Prepare meals and snacks to sustain nutritional needs.

Tidy home and assist with basic domestic tasks to ensure an enjoyable environment.

Assist with personal care tasks, from bathing to pad changes and incontinence care.

Shift Patterns

Mornings / Lunch (typically 7:00 am – 3:00 pm)

Tea time / Evenings (typically 3:00 pm – 10:00 pm)

Full days (with appropriate breaks)

Flexible availability across weekdays and alternate weekends

Part‐time hours or set days available

Consistent full‐time schedules offered

Eligibility & Qualifications

Trustworthy, compassionate, patient, adaptable, multiskilled (cooking & cleaning skills are a bonus).

Clear Enhanced DBS check and two satisfactory references required.

Pay, Benefits & Working ConditionsHourly rate £13.40, £14.50 on bank holidays.

Early pay available, no waiting for payday.

Mileage allowance paid.

Pension scheme.

Annual holidays 5.6 weeks (pro‐rata).

Full paid practical training, including induction and shadowing.
