Senior Occupational Therapy Support WorkerThe Adult Therapies & Psychological Services CSU have an exciting opportunity for 0.8 WTE (30 hrs) Band 3 Occupational Therapy Support Worker to become part of our team on a permanent basis. We are looking for a competent and confident Therapy Support Worker to join our team who will work both autonomously & as part of the MDT. If you want to work in a busy hospital environment as part of a team that is committed to providing an effective and efficient occupational therapy to patients who have a neurological illness then we want to hear from you.
Main duties of the job
Previous experience working in care environments (within NHS especially desirable)
You must be able to move and handle patients with physical impairments, including hoisting and the pushing of wheelchairs.
Flexible approach to duties and working practices
Friendly manner
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Able to use your initiative
IT skills
Insight into duties and responsibilities of post and an understanding of occupational therapy
NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent
Completion of the Care Certificate is essential, or you must be working towards it.

Job responsibilitiesThe varied workload requires a flexible approach and the ability to multi‐task, whilst maintaining a professional attitude and high standards of care. The role involves delivering Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment under the supervision of a registered therapist, to hospital in‐patients. This will include a range of activities such as practicing daily living activities e.g., personal care & domestic skills; carrying out cognitive screens, assisting therapists with splinting; and the assessment, delivery and fitting of equipment in patients' homes to help patients be discharged.
The successful applicant would be based at Leeds General Infirmary and work Monday to Friday.
Person SpecificationQualifications
Level 3 qualification in relevant health/social care related subject.
Completion of CARE certificate.
Experience
Experience working with people of different ages and difficulties.
Knowledge of the needs and problems of those with a disability.
