Job Overview University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us.Hours: Wednesday–Friday, 08:00–16:00 (Some flexibility may be considered)Responsibilities Support clinicians in the delivery of high-quality patient care within the urology outpatient settingProvide compassionate, professional, and dignified care to all patientsPerform male and female catheterisation (training can be provided if required)Undertake venesection and cannulation where competentChaperone during examinations and procedures as requiredReceive and manage telephone referrals from GPs, Emergency Departments, community teams, and patients and document accuratelyLiaise with community nursing teams and complete referrals where appropriateArrange and coordinate ongoing clinical supply orders for patientsEnsure clinic rooms are appropriately prepared and stockedEscalate concerns appropriately and work within own level of competenceWork both independently and as part of the wider multidisciplinary teamDevelop autonomous working practices once deemed competent and appropriately trainedAbout You Be enthusiastic, caring, and motivatedHave excellent interpersonal and communication skillsDemonstrate a calm, professional, and empathetic bedside mannerBe proactive and willing to learn new skillsThrive in a busy clinical environmentWork well both independently and within a teamHave good organisational and time management skillsBe confident communicating with patients and healthcare professionals via telephone and face-to-face interactionsDesirable Skills and Experience Previous experience working in an acute hospital settingMale and/or female catheterisation experienceVenesection and cannulation skillsExperience within outpatient, acute, or urology servicesKnowledge of clinical documentation systemsTraining and support will be provided for the right candidatePerson Specification Essential Criteria NVQ level 3 in care with acute units corresponding to specialty or equivalent experienceCompleted secondary educationExperience in a caring role in acute hospital environmentUnderstanding of acute hospital environment and the role of SHCAAbility to demonstrate clarity and breadth in use of English languageCompleted Care CertificateRequirement to be aware of and adhere to the care certificate standardsDemonstrates the ability to acknowledge changes in the patient's physical/psychological needs and to escape as appropriateCapable of completing core HCSW competencies and additional specific competencies related to area of work within 12 months of appointmentDesirable Criteria Previous Experience in 1. Acute hospital setting 2. Volunteer sector 3. Teaching Assistant 4.
