Job SummaryThis role reports to the Supervisor, Nutrition Services, and is responsible for providing respectful and individualized service at all times, including creating a homelike atmosphere by familiarizing oneself with residents' names, diets, consistencies, and preferences, observing eating patterns, and communicating concerns to the Registered Nurse and Dietitian.

Duties & Responsibilities

Provide respectful, courteous, pleasant, and individualized service at all times, creating a homelike atmosphere.

Re-thermalize menu items.

Ensure the finished quality of all products.

Be responsible for all aspects of food safety, sanitation, and food preparation in accordance with departmental procedures.

Perform cleaning, dishwashing, and set up the dining room; maintain equipment and conduct microbial tests on servery, dining room equipment, or surface areas.

Transport food and dish wagons to and from the servery.

Pick up supplies and products from production, check quality, rotate stock, and discard outdated items.

Train co‐workers.

Supply food for special events or functions per requisitions.

Provide required documentation for all audits, food‐usage sheets, and ensure any relevant information regarding residents or servery operations is communicated in writing via the communication book.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

Valid Food Handler Certificate.

Relevant experience in health care, restaurant, or hospitality food service.

Good organizational and interpersonal skills.

Team‐oriented with effective communication skills.

Understanding of the Residents' Bill of Rights and compliance standards set by the Ministry of Long‐Term Care.

Preferred

Completion or enrollment in a Food Service Worker program.

Working Conditions

Flexibility to work outside core business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs.

Employment Conditions

Current Vulnerable Sector Check obtained within the past six (6) months.

Current two‐step tuberculosis test or QuantiFERON‐TB Gold plus test obtained within the past six (6) months.
