Junior Clinical Fellow - Urology

Job description

The post holder will be expected to provide SHO grade cover on a rotational shift basis throughout Urology. They will participate in the on‐call SHO rota and supervise FY1s in service delivery, inpatients, and day services. The post holder will provide a rapid response to A&E to facilitate the 4 hour trolley‐wait target, and during the on‐call shift will be available solely for emergency duties.

Responsibilities

Provide SHO cover on a rotational shift basis in Urology.

Supervise FY1s in service delivery, outpatients, inpatients, and day services.

Provide rapid response to A&E to facilitate the 4 hour trolley‐wait target (available solely for emergency duties during on‐call shift).

Undertake outpatient clinics and operating theatre lists as directed by consultants.

Participate in the Clinical Governance and Risk Assessment process.

Work with the multidisciplinary team.

Take part in the care of patients attending the department, including examination, investigation, diagnosis and treatment.

Liaise with staff of other departments.

Maintain legible records.

Assist in audit of various aspects under the direction of the Audit Lead.

Recognise own limitations and seek advice from consultants.

Perform related duties as required, including additional duties arising from occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances and duties essential for continuity of patient care.

Other duties as directed by Consultant in Charge.

IT skills essential to support electronic management of patient pathways.

Department encourages all junior doctors to be involved in development of guidelines in partnership with other team members.

Qualifications

MBBS or equivalent/MRCS.

Full UK GMC registration and license to practice.

Able to prioritise clinical need.

Able to discuss treatment options with patients in a way they can understand.

Competent in assessing and managing common urological conditions.

Experience

Understanding the structure and functional principles of the NHS.

Previous experience in Urology.

Aware of own limitations, consults senior colleagues appropriately and knows when to ask for help.

Salary£52,656 a year (per annum) + London weighting.
