OverviewWe are looking for Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners to join the Steps 2 Wellbeing Team in Rural Dorset. The role involves delivering psychological interventions to people with mild to moderate common mental health problems in primary care, on a full‐time hybrid basis.

Responsibilities

Complete academic training accredited by the University of Exeter, combining online study with face‐to‐face teaching days.

Accumulate university study and work hours, with a minimum of two days per week delivering face‐to‐face CBT‐based Guided Self‐Help interventions for individuals with mild to moderate depression and/or anxiety disorders (including GAD, panic disorder, OCD).

Perform person‐centred assessments and deliver CBT‐based Guided Self‐Help interventions.

Work within a hybrid schedule, spending the remainder of the week working remotely.

Receive intensive supervision and workplace support throughout the training year.

Person Specification & QualificationsEducational / Qualifications

Evidence of ability to study successfully at level 5.

GCSE Maths and English Grade C or above, or equivalent.

Training in nursing, social work, counselling, or a psychological therapy, or a psychology or other health‐related undergraduate degree.

Skills / Experience / Knowledge

Experience working with people who have mental health problems.

Understanding of anxiety and depression presentations in primary care.

Knowledge of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and its application to this post.

Experience working in primary care services and managing own caseload.

Experience in a service where agreed targets are used to demonstrate clinical outcomes.

Experience facilitating courses or groups and/or teaching experience.

Personal Qualities / Aptitudes

Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and work independently.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including telephone skills.

Understanding of issues surrounding work and its impact on mental health.

Knowledge of medication used in anxiety, depression and other common mental health problems.

Additional Requirements

High enthusiasm and motivation for the role.

Positive and effective use of clinical supervision, self‐reflection and personal development.

Fluency in languages other than English.
