Job overview We are excited to offer an opportunity for an apprentice to join our enthusiastic and dedicated Cardiac Physiology team at the University Hospitals Dorset NHS Trust.You will receive full in‐house training for carrying out a variety of diagnostic cardiac investigations whilst also studying for your BSc (Hons) in Healthcare Science (Cardiac Physiology) at the University of the West of England at Bristol.Main duties The role is very patient‐centred and you will often be the first point of contact for patients in their journey through the cardiac department. Consequently, we are looking for someone with excellent communication skills who will strive to provide the very best care for every patient.Person specification Qualifications GCSE Grade C or above in English Language, Maths and Double ScienceA‐level Grade C or above in Chemistry or Biology, and a pass in another science subject (or equivalent)Experience Ability to multitask and cope with constant change and interruptionsExperience of observing / performing cardiac diagnostic testsExperience in handling patient referrals and determining prioritiesExperience of working within an NHS departmentIT literateAbility to concentrate on complex data and calculations for extended periodsAbility to work as part of a teamEvidence of good written skillsKnowledge Clear demonstration of knowledge of what the post involvesUnderstanding of Confidentiality & Data Protection ActAwareness of Equality & Diversity PrinciplesPersonal Attributes Accountability – takes responsibility for own actionsAbility to work under pressure with patients with distressing conditionsPlease note: Staff recruited are expected to be available to work flexibly across all our Trust locations to meet service demands.COVID‐19 vaccination remains the best way to protect yourself and our patients from the virus.
