Job Specifics Reference No: LO366Location: RutherglenHours: Full TimeSalary: CompetitiveClosing Date: Friday 5th June 2026Why should you apply for this role: Exciting projects and challengesJob Overview Our client provides an agreed level of social care support, Care at Home and Housing Support services to a wide range of service users within set service care models.They are currently recruiting for Homecare Support Workers to provide whatever help and encouragement is required by an individual for them to take control of their life. It is likely that to achieve this, the person receiving support will require aid from a number of different people, including friends, family, co-tenants.It will therefore be necessary for the support worker to respect and work co-operatively with others enabling the individual to live in their own home within their local community, based on the individual's preferences/needs within the framework of the Care Plan and Risk Management Strategy.Main Duties & Responsibilities Key Tasks Providing all aspects of personal care including toileting needs, medical needs, physical transfer needs, dressing, undressing and personal hygiene.Give social and emotional support as required.Recognise need to summon GP/nurse.Co-operation with relevant health and social care providers including GP, district nurse, health visitor, occupational therapist, social worker etc.Assisting with shopping including uplift, collection and delivery of prescriptions.Preparation of food in the home and dealing with dietary needs, including having regard to health-related needs (e.g., diabetes, religious requirements) as well as assistance with feeding, drinking and preparation of snacks and drinks.Assisting with money management, pension collecting, handling money, bill paying, banking money and assisting with letter writing, completion of forms etc.Co-operation with relevant health and social care providers including GP, district nurse, health visitor, occupational therapist, social worker etc.Providing domestic and household services, cleaning, tidying, laundry, ironing, refuse, pets etc.Bed making, including cleaning up after incontinenceEmptying and cleaning commodeAssistance with catheter careAssistance with colostomy careAssistance with stoma careAssistance with eye dropsAssistance with shaving and hair careAssistance with dressing and undressingAssistance with toiletingAccompanying or transporting the service user to and from: day centre, educational or training centres, sporting, leisure, social and recreational activities, outings (including visits to church or religious centres) appointments (e.g., hospital).BefriendingSupport to parents who lack parenting skills (which may include any of the above tasks)Attendance and/or support during access visitsRespite to carers and families of children with special needsOne-off intensive household cleaning to reach maintainable standardParticipate in Staff and Client meetings as and when required ensuring that all information of confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties.Maintain professional knowledge and competence at all times, attend mandatory training days/courses, on or off site, as and when requiredParticipate in relevant N/SVQ training to achieve required qualificationsAdhere to the Council's commitment to Health and Safety and maximising attendance.Employer Expectations Skills/Knowledge/Experience Have experience of care at home and housing support.Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary setting.Proven ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.Knowledge and understanding of issues relating to people with disabilities and vulnerabilities.A commitment to a service which provides support to vulnerable individuals, and which is respectful and according to the individuals' wishes.Good communication skills (written and verbal).Ability to communicate effectively with Service Users, customers, colleagues, Managers and other persons with a legitimate interest in the project.Commitment to training and development.Flexible and innovative approach to working.Knowledge of care planning systems.Empathy with the concept of Social Role Valorisation/Principles of Ordinary Living.Decision-making and problem-solving skillsQualifications/Tickets/Licences Required A good standard of general education. Read and write legibly preferred.SVQ in Health and Social Care or equivalent preferred.
