MainTasksGeneralLabourer/AssistantGardener
- Carryingoutavariedrangeofgardeningduties,requiringaminimumamountofsupervisionanduseofowninitiative
- Generalgroundsmaintenancedutiessuchasgrasscutting,pedestrianandrideonmowers.
- Useofhandtoolssuchasstrimmers,hedgecutters,blowersandanyhandtoolrequiredtocarryoutthejob.
- Markingfootballfields.
- Repairstofineturfandplayingsurfaces.
- Litterpicking,binemptying.
- Assistingthearboteamwhenrequired.
- Drivevehiclesandpulltrailers(withappropriatequalifications).
Soilcultivation,digging,forking,mulching,watering,raking,weeding,litteranddebris
clearing,edging,pruning,seedsowing,bedpreparationandplanting
Lawnmaintenanceandcultivation
Ensuringthatalltools,gardenequipmentandmachineryarecorrectlymaintainedanddefectsarereportedtoensuretheyarekeptingoodandsafeworkingorder.
Assistingwiththeconstructionoflandscapeschemes
Seasonalbedding,removalandplanting.
AwarenessandpractisingofHealthandSafetylegislations,ensuringasafeworkingenvironmentforeveryoneworkingorusingthecouncilsgreenspaces.
Keepingthevanandtoolshedscleanandtidyandtoolsstoredsecurelyatalltimes
Useofnaturalmethodsforplantprotectionandpestcontrol,avoidingapplicationofchemicalsandpesticides
Undergotrainingasrequired.
Anyotherdutieswithinotherneighbourhoodservicesdepartments.
