Job description

Business Development Manager/Account Management – North of England

Decorating Sundries | Remote - Field Base | £40,000

Territory - Between the M62 corridor and the Scottish boarder

The Opportunity

A well-established, family-owned British manufacturer and distributor of professional decorating sundries is looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to take ownership of their Northern territory - from the M62 corridor up to the Scottish border.

This is a business with real staying power. Their senior team has an average tenure of over 12 years, and they're now looking for the right person to grow with them for the long haul. You'll inherit a warm patch of over 300 live accounts from day one, with full product training provided and direct access to senior leadership.

If you're a self-starter who knows the trade, manages their time well, and wants genuine career security, read on.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Managing and developing a portfolio of 300+ existing accounts across retail, trade, and industrial sectors
  • Identifying and winning new business across your territory
  • Structuring your own week — this is a home-based, autonomous role
  • Building long-term relationships with customers who value consistency and expertise
  • Reporting directly into the Managing Director and attending the office once a month

What's In It For You

  • £40,000 base salary
  • Full expenses package - mileage, overnight stays, meals and daily allowance
  • Laptop and mobile phone provided
  • Pension scheme
  • Bonus scheme introduced after successful probation
  • A company where people genuinely stay - this is a career move, not a stopgap

What you need

  • A proven field sales professional with experience in decorating sundries, paint, or a closely related trade or building products sector
  • Someone disciplined, organised, and comfortable working remotely and independently
  • A strong relationship builder who can manage existing accounts and open new doors
  • Computer literate with solid commercial awareness
  • Based within or close to the Northern territory
