General Counsel | International Buy-and-Build Platform | London

We're partnering with an international investment and operating group which has spent the last decade acquiring, building and scaling businesses across the learning, children’s products and wellness sectors.

They are now looking for a General Counsel to work directly alongside an entrepreneurial CEO and leadership team as they continue to scale internationally through both M&A and organic growth.

This is emphatically NOT a traditional corporate GC role.

There is no team, layers of process, endless committees or desire to build unnecessary infrastructure.

The business operates with a lean, high-calibre model and wants someone who is commercially sharp, strategically minded and genuinely enjoys solving complex problems in fast-moving environments.

You’ll likely thrive in this role if you:

• prefer operating to managing
• enjoy ambiguity rather than rigid structure
• can move from high-level strategy into hands-on execution quickly
• are commercially creative, not just technically excellent
• are comfortable making decisions with imperfect information
• know how to manage external advisers effectively without building huge internal teams
• enjoy working closely with founders, investors and decision-makers

The work includes:

• international M&A (£150m+ deals and beyond)
• strategic corporate and commercial matters
• managing sophisticated external counsel globally
• governance, structuring, IP and broader business-critical projects
• acting as a true strategic adviser to the CEO

The ideal profile is probably not a career “big company” GC or large-team manager.

This is more likely to suit:

• a start-up/scale up GC
• someone from a PE / investment-backed / family office environment
• or an entrepreneurial corporate lawyer looking for a more dynamic operating role

London | hybrid working | equity participation available.
