Job description
We are mandated on behalf of a global specialty insurance platform to identify a high-calibre Senior Underwriter to join and help develop its Crisis Management offering. This is a key hire within a growing and strategically important business line, with responsibility for underwriting complex, globally distributed risks and contributing to the ongoing development of a scalable, profitable portfolio. The role operates at the intersection of underwriting, geopolitics, and real-world crisis response, supporting clients across a range of exposures including Political Violence, Terrorism, Active-Assailant, and broader crisis-driven risks.
The successful candidate will take a leading role in underwriting and developing Crisis Management business, with a focus on evaluating and underwriting complex risks across a global portfolio, including bespoke or non-standard placements and structuring and pricing open market risks (including some delegated authority business). The role is expected to combine hands-on underwriting delivery with a broader contribution to portfolio strategy, product development, and business planning. The ideal candidate will have an established background in Crisis Management or closely aligned specialty lines, able to operate with a high degree of autonomy and commercial judgement. It is imperative that someone has demonstrable experience underwriting Crisis Management, Active-Assailant, Political Violence or related specialty risks. It would also be advantageous to have a mixture of underwriting and broking experience.
