Technical Architect

Location: Newcastle (Hybrid - 3 days per week onsite)

Compensation: Up to £65,000 base salary + package

NOTE: Candidates must be eligible for Security Clearance (SC) and able to provide 5+ years of UK address history.

We are hiring for a Technical Architect to join a high-performing technology team delivering enterprise-scale solutions across complex transformation programmes. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong software engineering or DevOps background who is looking to step into a architecture-focused role while remaining technically hands-on.

You will play a key role in shaping technical solutions, influencing architectural decisions, and working closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders across the full delivery lifecycle.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Define and review technical architecture requirements for enterprise solutions
• Translate business and technical requirements into clear architectural designs
• Work closely with engineering teams across software delivery and DevOps environments
• Contribute to decisions around infrastructure, security, networking, and system design
• Support governance activities and present technical solutions to senior stakeholders
• Ensure solutions align with functional and non-functional requirements
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers and junior team members
• Stay current with emerging technologies and assess suitability for delivery environments

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of commercial experience within software engineering, DevOps, or technical architecture
• Strong background in either full stack software development or DevOps engineering
• Experience working within enterprise-scale technology environments
• Strong understanding of architectural design principles and design patterns
• Ability to distinguish and define functional vs non-functional requirements
• Experience producing technical documentation and solution designs
• Strong stakeholder communication skills across technical and business audiences
• Experience leading teams or acting as a technical SME is highly desirable

Nice to Have

• Experience within cloud-native or DevOps-oriented delivery environments
• Exposure to testing strategies across functional and non-functional systems
• Experience participating in architecture or governance review boards
• Passion for mentoring and developing engineering talent
