We are working with a market leading insurance underwriter seeking to hire a Tax Lawyer in London. Combining over 100 years’ collective experience of M&A deals, this is an exciting opportunity to be part of one of the worlds leading insurance underwriter.


What is the role?

This is an opportunity with a market leading international insurance underwriter for an experienced Tax Lawyer seeking to build a career in the Insurance space whilst still utilising their legal experience.


What will you be doing?

  • Reviewing and negotiating tax insurance policy wordings on UK and US transactions.
  • Responding to insured counsel comments and proposed amendments to policy language
  • Drafting bespoke endorsements, exclusions, limitations, and tax-specific coverage provisions
  • Advising underwriters internally on wording risk and legal interpretation issue
  • Stress-testing wording against potential claims scenarios and litigation outcomes
  • Helping maintain and update precedent wordings, clause libraries, and internal knowledge resources
  • Comparing UK and US policy structures and ensuring consistency across jurisdictions
  • Working closely with tax underwriters and claims teams on complex technical points
  • Assessing whether requested wording changes materially alter the insurer’s risk position
  • Analysing transaction documents (SPAs, disclosure letters, tax deeds, structuring memos)


What do you need to apply?

  • 5+ years of tax experience from a law firm or equivalent in-house role.
  • Strong tax technical knowledge (UK, US, or cross-border transaction tax)
  • Advanced drafting and redlining skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deal-driven environment without compromising on quality.
