Healthcare Assistant – WardsThe Albyn Hospital, in Aberdeen, is part of Circle Health Group, the UK's leading independent healthcare provider.
OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join our ward team. This full‐time role requires 37.5 hours per week with a flexible shift pattern.
Responsibilities
Assist patients with personal hygiene, dressing, toileting, oral care and mobility, respecting their preferences and dignity.
Help patients with eating, drinking and nutritional support, including documenting intake where appropriate.
Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and their relatives, creating a caring and safe environment.
Carry out and accurately record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation and blood glucose levels after appropriate training.
Support basic clinical procedures, including wound care setup, assisting with catheter care, pressure area prevention and the use of mobility aids.
Prepare and maintain clinical areas, including trolleys, beds and equipment to ensure readiness for patient use.
Collaborate with nurses, doctors, therapists and admin teams to support safe and efficient patient care.
Qualifications
Previous experience in a health support role (hospital, care home, community or domiciliary).
Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring and compassionate attitude.
Ability to follow instructions and raise concerns appropriately.
Basic literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
Physical capability to carry out duties including moving and handling tasks.
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) desirable.
Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control and confidentiality procedures.
Previous experience is essential.
