Healthcare AssistantLocation: Albyn Hospital, Aberdeen
Hours: 37.5 Hours – Permanent full‐time
Salary: Up to £24,947 per year (depending on level of experience, training and qualification)
OverviewAlbyn Hospital, part of Circle Health Group, offers independent healthcare services across the UK. We are looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join our team. This full‐time role requires 5 days a week, primarily 08:00‐16:00, with shifts varying as clinic activity demands. The main responsibilities involve coordinating and undertaking diagnostic tests for pre‐operative patients, including ECG, phlebotomy, vital sign monitoring, and observations instructed by Registered Nurses.
Duties
Assist patients with personal hygiene, washing, dressing, toileting, oral care, and mobility needs.
Help patients with eating, drinking, and nutritional support, documenting intake where appropriate.
Provide comfort and emotional support, creating a caring and safe environment.
Carry out and accurately record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose levels.
Support basic clinical procedures, including wound care setup, catheter care assistance, pressure area prevention, and use of mobility aids.
Prepare and maintain clinical areas, including trolleys, beds, and equipment in readiness for patient use.
Work collaboratively with nurses, doctors, therapists, and admin teams to support safe and efficient patient care.
Qualifications
Previous experience in a care or health support role (hospital, care home, community, or domiciliary).
Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring, compassionate attitude.
Ability to follow instructions and escalates concerns appropriately.
Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
Physically able to undertake duties including moving and handling tasks.
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification) desirable.
Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control, and confidentiality procedures.
