Band 4 Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician (PTPT) - BHJob OverviewThis 2‐year fixed‐term training contract will lead to a Level 3 pharmacy technician qualification and registration with the General Pharmacy Council (GPhC). The successful candidate will rotate through the different areas within Pharmacy on a rotational basis, undertaking distance learning, in‐house training and classroom learning of at least 6 hours per week.

Main duties

Participate in a comprehensive training and educational programme while working towards the pharmacy technician qualification.

Maintain sufficient progress to meet the learning agreement requirements signed by trainee, educational provider and workplace.

Rotate through hospital pharmacy activities under the supervision of registered pharmacy technicians and pharmacists.

Cover a bank holiday shift once each year and work across the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust sites.

Complete rotations on a full‐time schedule of 37.5 hours per week, inclusive of weekend and late duty hours.

Qualifications & experience

Level 2 (QCF): Certificate in Pharmacy Service Skills or Pharmacy Service Assistant Apprenticeship.

Four GCSEs (or equivalent) Grade A*–C or 4–9, including English, Mathematics and a Science or Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English.

Experience with IT Microsoft Packages such as Outlook, Word and Excel.

Experience working in a pharmacy environment and stock management.

Skills and attributes

Excellent attention to detail and problem‐solving initiative.

Effective communication using clear written and spoken English.

Basic numeracy skills and ability to handle heavy loads when required.

Familiarity with computer systems and basic keyboard skills.

Enthusiastic with a positive attitude towards learning.

Ability to develop effective working relationships across the organisation.

Can work well in a busy environment and adapt to unpredictable work patterns.

Other requirements

Participation in weekend, bank holiday and late duty rotations.

Maintain confidentiality and security of patient information.

Good attendance record and time management.

Appropriate visa status or eligibility to work in the United Kingdom; EU/EEA citizens without settlement status require a visa.
