Full time – 37.5 hours per week

Paying from £30,445 - £31,995 per annum dependent on experience

Role OverviewWe are looking for an experienced healthcare assistant who is an enthusiastic individual with an interest in healthcare to join us on a permanent basis at Bupa's flagship hospital. This is a dual role which includes completing healthcare assistant skills, which involves caring for patients and assisting the nurses with the smooth running of the department. As a healthcare assistant you will join the Skyline Children and Young Peoples outpatient's department, seeing a wide variety of patients ranging from medical admissions, neurophysiology testing and a wide variety of surgical admissions. You will gain experience caring for children and young people across a wide range of specialties whilst here with the support of an extensive MDT team including paediatric therapists and health play specialists.

What You'll Do

Work closely with the ward nurses and be a patient advocate helping to deliver exceptional care that is centred in their needs and their families.

Prioritise patient care needs, be able to spot an unwell child and complete a comprehensive assessment and escalate accordingly.

Adhere to the hospital's infection control measures and promote these within the team.

Support the consultants in collaboration with the nurses.

Welcome and receive patients, relatives, visitors and colleagues to the unit.

Accompany patients and families between departments.

Assist patients with eating, drinking, patient hygiene and elimination procedures.

Assist with observations, being able to spot an unwell child and complete a comprehensive assessment and escalating accordingly to the nursing/medical team.

What You'll Bring

Experience as a Healthcare Assistant (essential)

NVQ in health and social care or Care Certificate

Experience working with children is essential

Basic Life Support Trained (desirable)

A desire to develop both professionally and personally

NVQ Level 2 (Direct Patient Care) or equivalent

Excellent team player

Understanding of safeguarding best practice and awareness of relevant child protection legislation
