Job OverviewLeicestershire Partnership NHS Trust invites experienced Health Care Assistants to join our expanding team on the Belvoir Ward, a 10‐bed Male Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) within the Bradgate Mental Health Unit.

The role is part of the nursing team and supports patients' physical and mental health needs. Candidates should have prior healthcare experience, be confident working with complex mental health needs, be compassionate, caring and able to handle challenging situations.

Responsibilities & Duties

Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, compassionate, patient‐centred care.

Support patients through recovery, including physical support and mental health care.

Follow risk assessment, risk management plans and individualised care plans in line with Trust policies.

Contribute to de‐escalation, restraint reduction, and effective communication.

Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control, safeguarding, equality and diversity.

Qualifications & Requirements

Eligibility to work in the UK (no sponsorship offered).

Experience in a healthcare setting with complex mental health patients.

Strong communication, interpersonal, problem‐solving, negotiation and boundary‐setting skills.

Capacity to work in a high‐acuity environment with incidents of violence and aggression.

Commitment to professional development and accountability.

Working Hours & Conditions

Full‐time (37.5 hours per week) or part‐time options available.

Rota of long days (11.5 hr shifts) covering a 7‐day working week.

Permanent role – not a bank position; 6‐month probation for substantive roles.

Supportive induction, regular supervision and structured learning journey.
