Senior Support Worker

Job description

Role OverviewSenior Support Worker at Pear Tree House, a residential and short‐breaks children's home located in Swindon.

Responsibilities

Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times.

Support children and young people with daily activities and personal care.

Effectively lead the shift by ensuring appropriate staffing levels are maintained at all times.

Participate in the review and updating of children's care plans and risk assessments, working closely with the service manager.

Ensure children feel safe, supported and are able to thrive within the home and their educational environments.

Cover all aspects of the support worker role and work closely with the team to meet service needs.

Serve as part of the on‐call team and respond to emergencies.

Administer medication when required.

Complete all mandatory training and maintain up‐to‐date qualifications.

Participate in the rota, including every other weekend and on‐call duties.

Qualifications & Experience

Level 3 NVQ or Level 3 Diploma in residential childcare (England) (RQ) or willingness to work towards this after probation.

Strong organisational, time‐management, planning and communication skills.

Flexible, professional, and positive approach.

Proven reliability in terms of full attendance and timekeeping.

Ability to work as part of a team and independently.

Self‐confidence and ability to manage challenging situations.

Driving licence preferred.

Ability to address and respond to employee issues fairly and consistently.

Salary: £29,525.97 per annum (pro ratio) for a permanent 37.5‐hour contract.
