Junior Designer

Job description

Our client is looking for a Junior Designer to work at a location in Bristol.

Key Responsibilities for the position include:

Safety, Health and Environment – Take responsibility for your own health, safety, adhering to policies, procedures and risk assessments and escalating any concerns to a manager or senior manager.

Drawings – Complete with guidance 2D drawing designs and check other drawings for errors. In time, after training, develop 3D designs using Revit.

Material Schedules – Calculate quantities of materials for checking and producing itemised lists for procurement.

Technical Document Packages – Obtain product data sheets and technical information for inclusion into a one document library of information for the main contractor. Once checked, issue to the main contractor.

Portal Management – Have responsibility for the uploading and downloading of information as necessary from the client's portal and our own internal document management system (BIM360).

Submittal of Requests for Information – Responsibility for (with guidance) for raising requests for information and recording information.

Issue Calculations – Uploading calculations that are issued by engineers onto the system.

Issue of Samples – Take photo's of samples and uploading to the portal for formal approval.

Research and Development Collation – Logging all research and development onto our project management system (Monday.com).

Quality Assurance Process – Check others material schedules and drawing output against a list of requirements.

BIM Development – Be instrumental in the introduction of BIM compliant workflows, templates and processes within MCS to help in obtaining BRE accreditation with guidance from our in house BIM Manager.

Other tasks that you'd expect in this role

Key Skills & Experience required for the position include:Essential: You will need to have very good Microsoft Office knowledge as well as previous experience of working with AutoCad.

Desirable: Experience in Revit or other 3D modelling software, Monday.com, document management systems, BIM (ISO19650) and the construction industry would all be advantageous.
