Graduate Opportunities: Behaviour & Learning Mentor Roles in Education, Psychology & Mental Health

Daily Rate: £120 per day

Pay: Weekly via PAYE (No Umbrella Fees)

Hours: Monday to Friday / 08:15 - 15:00 / Full-Time for the academic year

Start date: Monday 1st of June 2026

Are you a Psychology or Criminology graduate (or currently studying) looking to gain meaningful, hands‐on experience in education?

We are currently recruiting Behaviour & Learning Mentors to work within supportive and forward‐thinking secondary schools across Cardiff, supporting pupils in Key Stage 3 and 4.

About the RoleAs a Behaviour & Learning Mentor, you'll play a vital role in helping students overcome barriers to learning and thrive both emotionally and academically.

You will support young people with:

Emotional wellbeing and mental health

Behaviour, self-regulation, and resilience

Engagement, confidence, and academic progress

You'll work closely with teachers, SENCo teams, and pastoral staff to deliver tailored, impactful support.

Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with additional needs

Support behaviour and learning intervention plans

Encourage positive behaviour, focus, and emotional regulation

Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

Collaborate with staff and families to support student progress

What We're Looking For

Psychology, Criminology, or related degree (studying or completed)

Passion for mental health, education, and child development

Strong communication and emotional intelligence

Patience, empathy, and adaptability

Experience with young people is desirable but not essential (full training provided)

Requirements

Enhanced DBS (on Update Service or willingness to apply)

Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)

Two recent professional references

Up-to-date CV

Safeguarding training (provided)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
