Clinical Support Worker – Surgery‐Theatres
We require enthusiastic and flexible Clinical Support Workers to join our Trauma team at the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust. Here we specialise in Orthopaedic and Trauma.
You will need to be a team player with good communication skills and an ability to adapt to new situations with a strong focus on providing excellent quality patient care within the Theatre environment.
Main duties of the jobAre you compassionate, reliable, motivated & ready for a challenge? If so, we are looking to recruit motivated & enthusiastic CSWs to join our dynamic & friendly teams & provide safe & supportive care to patients, relatives & their loved ones. In this post you would be responsible for providing fundamental elements of patient care as directed by the qualified nursing/midwifery team to ensure our patients receive the highest standard of dignified & respectful care, in accordance with their care plans. We are looking for people who are compassionate & feel passionately about providing a level of care they would wish for their family & friends.
Collect patients from wards for theatres
The patients' dignity is maintained at all times.
Help the nurses with observations, wound dressing, ECG
The patient is offered appropriate support and reassurance during the transfer or move, in a manner sensitive to their needs and concerns.
Ensures all equipment is maintained and kept clean.
Cleans and tidies the environment.
Prepare equipment for medical and nursing staff for procedures
Demonstrates safe working practices in the use of equipment in the clinical area and completion of mandatory training.
Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesCirculating duties within theatre.
Prepare instrumentation and consumable items for the daily workload, ensuring stock rotation is completed.
Take Clinical Observations and Recording.
Glucose Monitoring.
Urine Analysis (Strip).
Support and Assist New Staff – Buddy System/Care Certificate Supervisor.
Report risks as appropriate.

Person specificationQualifications
Evidence of good numeracy and literacy.
Care Certificate (this is mandatory to undertake in the first 12 weeks of employment commencing).
Experience
Evidence of passion for patient care.
Ability to cover a variety of shifts over 7 days a week including weekends and bank holidays.

Visa eligibility noticeThe UK Home Office has imposed an emergency brake on specific visa routes.
Skilled Worker visas cannot currently be issued to Afghan nationals.
Study visas cannot currently be issued to nationals of Afghanistan, Cameroon, Myanmar or Sudan.
As a result, we are unable to progress applications requiring sponsorship under these routes.
Immigration informationIf you are currently in the UK on a visa, you must have at least six months remaining on your visa at the time of your start date to ensure sufficient time for the operational and training process associated with the role. The requirement of at least six months remaining on your visa does not apply to a Skilled Worker Visa, as a new Skilled Worker Visa would be required for a new role.
In line with the change of Immigration rules on 8th January 2026, if you require Sponsorship through the Skilled Worker Visa you must be able to provide B2 English evidence before a Certificate of Sponsorship can be issued.
