At the core of our mission is a commitment to compassionate, high‐quality care for patients and their families.We offer a Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) role that includes a full‐time, one‐week induction with a Care Certificate, ongoing training, and a supportive framework designed to help you thrive.Departments General Intensive CareSurgical High DependencyNeuro Intensive CareCardiac Intensive CareAll positions are based at University Hospitals Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS).Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities What You Will Do Assist patients with personal care and daily living needs.Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families.Support infection prevention and control procedures.Help maintain a clean, safe, and well‐equipped clinical environment.Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high‐quality patient care.Cater to patients requiring intensive monitoring and life support following major surgery, trauma, or serious medical conditions.In this role you will contribute directly to patient recovery in an emotionally challenging, fast‐paced environment.What We're Looking For Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.A collaborative attitude and commitment to delivering high‐quality care.A flexible approach to meet the needs of a 24/7 service.A willingness to learn and grow in a critical care setting.An innovative and academic approach, contributing to research and education in critical care.This vacancy is not a Home Office sponsorship position; candidates must have the right to work in the UK.Person Specification Qualifications, Knowledge And Experience – Essential Criteria Completed care certificate or ability to complete within 6 months of appointment.Completed secondary education.Ability to move and handle patients and equipment.Evidence of empathy, patience and dependability.Ability to deal with a range of difficult situations.Take instruction/directions and work within role boundaries.Cope with fluctuating demands and pressures of the role.Adhere to care certificate standards (https://www.hee.nhs.uk/our-work/care-certificate).Complete core HCSW competencies related to area of work within 12 months of appointment.Desirable Criteria Previous experience in an acute hospital setting.Experience as a Healthcare Assistant.Experience volunteering in a caring role (e.g., nursing home carer, teaching assistant).Understanding of an acute hospital environment and the role of an HCA.Core Trust Values Working together.Always improving.Patients first.
