About the RoleWe are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Support Worker to join our team in supporting an individual in a supported living setting. The person we support lives independently and is looking to engage in community activities.
The individual has a rare genetic condition known as Ring Chromosome 20 Syndrome, which is associated with epilepsy and learning difficulties. He experiences seizures up to three times per day and may lose awareness of their surroundings during these episodes.
Your role will involve providing 1:1 support in the community, ensuring his safety and wellbeing at all times, including during travel and while volunteering.
As a Senior Support Worker, you will also take a lead role in developing positive, trusting relationships, supporting independence, and mentoring other staff. You will coordinate with the wider team to ensure consistent, high-quality support and contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the service.
Outside of volunteering, the person enjoys attending festivals and going bowling, and you will have the opportunity to support them in pursuing these interests and other social activities. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference by enabling someone to achieve their goals, enjoy their hobbies, and participate fully in the community.
Key Responsibilities
Act as a role model for best practice, leading and guiding the staff team while supporting individuals with daily living and emotional well-being.
Ensure support plans are followed and regularly reviewed.
Promote independence.
Maintain accurate records, complete audits, ensure compliance with safeguarding and regulatory standards.
Work with external professionals and families.
Contribute to continuous improvement of the service and team culture.
