Selective Licensing Applications Officer

Location: Oxford (Hybrid Working)Pay: Up to £14.24 per hourHours: Part-time, 22 hours per weekContract: Agency contract with potential to convert to a Fixed Term Contract (up to 1 year)Start Date: Immediate

About the Role

Following government approval (Selective Licensing Scheme), all private rented homes in Oxford have required a licence since September 2022. With nearly half (49.3%) of homes in the city privately rented, this is a vital initiative to ensure landlords meet required safety and management standards.

We are now seeking a Selective Licensing Applications Officer to join our established and dynamic team responsible for delivering this important service to Oxford residents.

What You’ll Be Doing

This is a varied and fast-paced role where no two days are the same. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Processing licence applications using detailed procedures and specialist systems
  • Handling a high volume of customer enquiries via phone and email
  • Providing excellent customer service to landlords, tenants, and stakeholders
  • Accurately managing and inputting data
  • Keeping up to date with changes in legislation and adapting processes accordingly

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Enthusiastic, motivated, and proactive
  • Detail-oriented with strong organisational skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Quick to learn and able to retain complex information
  • Experienced in delivering excellent customer service
  • A strong communicator, both written and verbal
