HGV CLASS 1 DRIVER – RUGBY, WARWICKSHIRE

People Solutions are currently recruiting for an HGV Class 1 Driver to join our well-established client based in Rugby, Warwickshire.

This is a fantastic opportunity offering excellent rates of pay, ongoing work, weekly pay and genuine opportunities for growth and progression.

This role would suit candidates with experience as an HGV Class 1 Driver, LGV Class 1 Driver, Category CE Driver, C+E Driver, Tramper Driver or General Haulage Driver.

Shifts

 • Four on, four off rota (rota provided)
 • Day shifts
 • Start times between 06:00 – 08:00

Rates of Pay

 • Monday to Friday – £17.00 per hour
 • Saturday – £20.00 per hour
 • Sunday – £22.00 per hour

Day-to-Day Duties

As an HGV Class 1 Driver, your duties will include but not be limited to:

 • Completing Class 1 trailer drop and swap work between depots
 • Working with curtain-side trailers, including removing and replacing safety bars
 • Operating and driving Category CE vehicles safely and efficiently
 • Carrying out pre-journey and post-journey vehicle inspections
 • Ensuring all loads are secured safely and correctly
 • Adhering to UK traffic laws and transport regulations
 • Communicating effectively with the transport office and site teams
 • Reporting any vehicle defects or maintenance requirements promptly

Essential Skills

To be successful as an HGV Class 1 Driver, you will need:

 • A valid UK Category CE Driving Licence
 • A minimum of 12 months' experience driving Category CE vehicles
 • No more than six penalty points for minor infringements
 • A valid UK Driver CPC Card and Digital Tachograph Card
 • Good spoken and written English
 • Excellent punctuality and timekeeping
 • A good understanding of UK road traffic laws and driver regulations

Desirable Experience

 • Previous commercial driving experience
 • Previous trailer swap experience
 • Experience working with curtain-side trailers

Training Provided

 • Driving assessment required prior to starting
 • Training and ongoing support provided throughout the assignment
