Overview
A pre‐registration trainee pharmacy technician apprentice will work under the direction of registered pharmacists and pharmacy technicians within multidisciplinary teams, assisting in the provision and preparation of medicines for patients in both acute and speciality settings.

Responsibilities

Assist in the provision and preparation of medicines to meet patient needs.

Apply respect, confidentiality and professional conduct at all times.

Maintain a safe working environment and contribute to the safeguarding of patients.

Work accurately when preparing and dispensing medicines.

Communicate effectively and work well as part of a team.

Recognise and work within one's own limitations.

Qualifications & Eligibility

Must be a UK, EEA or EU resident for at least the past three years.

Hard‐working, excellent team worker with strong communication skills.

Commitment to learning and completing the required training programme.

Training & Development
Apprentices will complete a 24‐month training programme, study for a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians in partnership with Bradford College, and undertake virtual classroom sessions and day release periods. A portfolio of evidence will be compiled in line with the apprenticeship framework.

Contract Details
Fixed‐term apprentice agreement for 24 months. The status will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed‐term contracts.

Benefits
Apprentice allowance as specified in the Minimum Wage Regulations will be paid for the first 12 months, with the rate increasing after 12 months in line with the regulations for applicants aged 19 or over.

The apprenticeship will commence in September 2026, subject to satisfactory completion of pre‐employment checks in accordance with NHS Employment Check Standards.
