PurposeoftheRole:Driver(HGV)

Todeliverahigh-qualitywastecollectionandtransportationservicebasedatChelsonMeadowandWestonMillHouseholdWasteRecyclingCentres,ensuringoperationsarecarriedoutsafely,efficiently,andeffectively.Therolecontributestomaintainingagreener,cleanercitythroughreliableservicedelivery.

KeyResponsibilities:Driver(HGV)

• Operatearangeofvehicles,includingskipvehicles,hookloaders,andarticulatedvehicleswithtrailers.
• Ensurethesafe,compliant,andefficientcollection,transportation,anddisposalofwastematerialsbothonandoffsitetodesignateddisposalpoints.
• Maintainaccuraterecordsofloadsmoved,ensuringcompliancewithweightsandmeasuresrequirementsandEnvironmentAgencyregulations.
• MaintainavalidDriverCertificateofProfessionalCompetence(CPC)anddigitaltachographcardatalltimes.
• AdheretoOperator(O)Licencerequirements,drivingregulations,andWorkingTimeDirectiverules.
• Ensurehighstandardsofproductivity,workquality,andoperationalefficiency.
• Provideexcellentcustomerserviceandmaintainaprofessionalapproachwheninteractingwiththepublicandstakeholders.
• UpholdthereputationofPlymouthCityCouncilthroughthedeliveryofacriticalfrontlineservice.
• Carryoutdailyvehiclechecksandreportanydefectsinlinewithprocedures.
• Supportenvironmentalobjectivesbypromotingsafeandsustainablewastehandlingpractices.

KeySkillsandExperience:Driver(HGV)

• RelevantLGV/HGVdrivinglicence(appropriatetovehicletype).
• ValidCPCqualificationanddigitaltachographcard.
• KnowledgeofdrivingregulationsandWorkingTimeDirectiverules.
• Strongawarenessofhealthandsafetyrequirements.
• Abilitytoworkbothindependentlyandaspartofateam.
• Goodcommunicationandcustomerserviceskills.
• Reliable,flexible,andabletoworkinaphysicallydemandingenvironment.
