We are seeking a dedicated Seasonal Gardener to join our team at Banbury Crematorium for a temporary period, assisting with the maintenance and enhancement of our outdoor landscapes. The ideal candidate will have a passion for gardening and horticulture, with practical experience in landscape upkeep. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work outdoors, develop gardening skills, and contribute to the visual appeal of our grounds.

Duties

• Planting, pruning, watering, and fertilising plants to ensure healthy growth
• Operating hand tools such as secateurs, spades, and rakes for various gardening tasks
• Using power tools like hedge trimmers and lawnmowers for landscape maintenance
• Assisting with soil preparation, mulching, and planting new flora
• Maintaining pathways, lawns, flower beds, and shrubbery to high standards
• Monitoring plant health and identifying pests or diseases for appropriate action
• Supporting seasonal projects such as planting schemes
• Ensuring all gardening equipment is maintained in good condition and stored safely

Skills

• Proven experience in gardening or horticulture, with a strong understanding of plant care
• Familiarity with the use of hand tools and power tools relevant to landscape maintenance
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining attention to detail
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately
• Physical fitness to perform manual tasks including digging, lifting, and standing for extended periods
• A proactive attitude with a keen eye for aesthetics and landscape presentation
