An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Town Planner to join a well-established and growing private planning consultancy based in Rugby. Working with a diverse client base across the residential, commercial, mixed-use, and rural sectors, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality planning advice and securing successful outcomes for development projects across the UK.
This position would suit a planner with experience in either the private or public sector who is looking to broaden their project exposure, develop their technical skills, and progress their career within a supportive and ambitious consultancy environment.
The Role
As a Town Planner, your responsibilities will include:
- Managing planning applications from initial appraisal through to determination.
- Preparing planning statements, site appraisals, and supporting reports.
- Providing planning advice to clients on development opportunities and constraints.
- Liaising with local authorities, consultees, architects, and other consultants.
- Assisting with planning appeals and representations.
- Undertaking planning policy reviews and development plan assessments.
- Supporting business development and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Attending site visits, meetings, and public consultations where required.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- A degree in Town Planning or a related discipline.
- MRTPI status or progress towards chartership.
- Experience within a planning consultancy, local authority, developer, or related environment.
- Sound knowledge of the UK planning system and planning legislation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
- A proactive, commercially aware, and client-focused approach.
