Job Title: Earthworks Site Supervisor – Earthworks & Civil Engineering



Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Earthworks Site Supervisor to oversee earthworks and civil engineering operations on construction sites. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the following Earthworks, groundworks, drainage, roadworks, excavation, and infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for managing day-to-day site activities, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.



Key Responsibilities:


  • Supervise all on-site earthworks and civil engineering activities including excavation, grading, drainage, road construction, retaining structures, and utilities.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with project plans, specifications, and health & safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth operations.
  • Organize site workers, plant operators, and subcontractors for efficient productivity.
  • Conduct daily site briefings and toolbox talks to communicate safety, work schedules, and quality expectations.
  • Monitor progress and report daily site activities and issues to the Project Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and sustainability guidelines on-site.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks or delays.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and equipment hours.
  • Inspect work for quality and ensure that it meets project specifications.



Requirements:



  • Proven experience (3+ years preferred) in civil engineering/earthworks supervision.
  • Relevant qualifications in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field (e.g., NVQ Level 3/4, SMSTS, or SSSTS).
  • Sound knowledge of groundworks, drainage, highways, and infrastructure construction techniques.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety legislation (e.g., CDM Regulations).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Competence with basic IT tools and reporting systems.



Desirable:



  • First Aid Certification
  • CPCS/NPORS plant tickets (advantageous)
  • Temporary Works Supervisor certification
