Founding Quant Researcher — On-Chain Prop Trading

REALM are working on a mandate with our client, a pre-seed on-chain prop trading firm to hire their first quant researcher. This is a founding mandate, you'll build the research function from scratch and hire behind you as the firm scales.

The problem

Statistical inference under pressure: judging trader edge from short, noisy track records across hundreds of concurrent books, accounting for multiple testing, survivorship, and shifting regimes. Around that sits the allocation decision of which flow to internalise versus hedge, real-time netting of correlated positions, and parameter design that holds up against traders actively probing it.

What you'll own

• Trader classification and scaling framework
• Hedging engine across a broad range of perpetual markets
• Risk parameters and governance
• Live risk surface and stress modelling

The Company

Early-stage, well-backed, and already live with real traders and real capital. Built on a leading on-chain derivatives infrastructure. The team has backgrounds at top-tier trading and banking institutions and the founders have deep experience in both DeFi and institutional markets.

What we're looking for

A strong mathematical foundation is essential — probability, stochastic processes, statistical inference, and the rigour to apply them to live systems under uncertainty. Beyond that: deep derivatives knowledge (Greeks, VaR/CVaR, hedging, stress testing), a strong Python stack, and the ownership to lead a function from day one. Crypto or DeFi familiarity a strong plus.

Remote-friendly with a London office if you wish to visit.

Compensation

$200,000 – $250,000 base + founding equity
