Role Summary

The Internal Sales Executive is responsible for supporting sales growth across the UK and Ireland for lapping and polishing systems, consumables, spares, and service support. This is a consultative B2B role that is primarily office-based and focused on handling enquiries, qualifying opportunities, preparing quotations and proposals, maintaining regular follow-up, updating CRM records, order closing, and coordinating closely with internal engineering, applications, operations, and service teams.

The role combines commercial awareness with technical learning and is well suited to someone who enjoys building customer relationships, managing a pipeline of opportunities, and delivering a high standard of responsive internal sales support. Product and process training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day internal sales activity, including incoming enquiries, opportunity qualification, quotation preparation, follow-up, closing orders and customer communication.
  • Develop existing accounts and support new business generation across the UK & Ireland through proactive outbound contact, lead follow-up, and account development activity.
  • Build strong customer relationships through responsive support by phone, email, and virtual meetings, ensuring timely communication and consistent follow-up.
  • Prepare accurate quotations, proposals, and sales documentation for equipment, consumables, spares, and service-related opportunities.
  • Identify customer requirements and work closely with internal technical teams to help develop practical commercial solutions.
  • Support in-house trials, sample evaluations, and application discussions where needed to help convert technical requirements into sales opportunities.
  • Coordinate internally with engineering, service, operations, and production teams to support quotations, lead times, order handover, and aftersales communication.
  • Promote aftermarket sales by identifying opportunities for consumables, spares, service support, and repeat business within the existing customer base.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records and a well-managed pipeline of enquiries, quotations, opportunities, contacts, and next actions.
  • Attend occasional customer visits, demonstrations, or trade events where direct engagement would support a commercial opportunity and order closure.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience in internal sales, sales support, customer service, account management, business development or a similar commercially focused role, ideally within an engineering, industrial, or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with confidence speaking to customers by phone, email, and video meetings.
  • Experience preparing quotations, proposals, and sales administration accurately and efficiently.
  • Able to understand customer requirements, ask the right questions, and work with technical colleagues to support suitable commercial solutions and close orders.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple enquiries and priorities effectively.
  • Comfortable using CRM systems and Microsoft 365 tools to manage opportunities, communication, and reporting.
  • Commercial awareness, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to follow-up and account development.
  • Willingness to learn technical product knowledge and travel occasionally when required.

About you

  • A proactive, organised, and customer-focused individual who enjoys working in a busy internal sales environment.
  • A confident communicator who can build trust, manage follow-up effectively, and maintain professional customer relationships.
  • Commercially aware, detail-oriented, and motivated to support growth through consistent enquiry handling and account development.
  • Comfortable working closely with internal teams to deliver a positive customer experience from enquiry through to order progression.

Working Pattern

  • Office-based role with full product and process training provided.
  • Daily collaboration with engineering, service, operations, and production teams to support customer enquiries and quotations.
