Showroom Manager
Department: Retail / Showroom
Location: Clapham, London
Reports to: Senior Account Manager
Hours: Full-time, Wednesday – Sunday (one weekend off per month)
Salary : £35,000 - £40,000 DOE
The Company
Cult Furniture is an established online home furnishings retailer with a passion for trend-led interiors, exceptional customer experience and design-focused living.
Our team is made up of creative, commercially minded individuals who share a genuine enthusiasm for interiors and furniture design. As the business continues to grow, we are looking for a confident and proactive Showroom Manager to lead our Clapham showroom and help bring the Cult Furniture brand to life in a physical retail environment.
The Role
We are seeking an outgoing, commercially minded and highly organised Showroom Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of our Clapham showroom.
This hands-on role combines team leadership, sales, customer experience and visual merchandising, ensuring the showroom remains visually inspiring, commercially effective and aligned with the Cult Furniture brand.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a Showroom Manager, Assistant Manager or Store Manager role within a retail, interiors or furniture environment, alongside strong visual merchandising skills and a passion for interiors.
The showroom operates seven days a week, therefore flexibility to work weekends is required. The successful candidate will receive one full weekend off per month. During weeks where weekends are not worked, the working pattern will typically include Monday working remotely and Tuesday working from the showroom/office.
Interior design experience and the ability to conduct styling or design consultations would be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Experience & Brand Representation
- Act as a key brand ambassador, delivering a warm, professional and engaging welcome to all showroom visitors.
- Provide knowledgeable assistance across the full product range, services and wider brand offering.
- Guide customers throughout their showroom journey, ensuring attentive service and timely follow-up.
- Manage customers throughout their full sales journey, delivering a high level of customer service and product knowledge.
- Build strong relationships with customers and confidently advise on suitable products and styling solutions.
- Respond to customer enquiries via phone, email and in person with professionalism and accuracy.
- Support both retail and Trade customers throughout the ordering process to ensure a seamless customer experience.
- Represent the Cult Furniture brand with enthusiasm, professionalism and strong attention to detail.
- Monitor customer feedback and communicate insights to relevant departments to improve products, processes and customer experience.
Visual Merchandising & Showroom Styling
- Take ownership of the overall showroom presentation, ensuring all areas are styled to a consistently high standard in line with the Cult Furniture brand.
- Maintain exceptional visual merchandising standards throughout the showroom.
- Regularly refresh showroom layouts, room sets and product displays to reflect current collections, promotions, seasonal campaigns and best-selling ranges.
- Work closely with the Product and Design teams to ensure showroom styling and product selection align with wider business priorities, launches and marketing activity.
- Ensure the showroom remains commercially relevant, visually inspiring and trend-led at all times.
- Keep up to date with furniture, interiors and retail trends to continuously evolve the showroom environment.
- Ensure all showroom displays, pricing labels, product information and swatches are accurate, presentable and up to date.
- Maintain showroom cleanliness, organisation and presentation to brand standards at all times.
- Support showroom event preparation, product launches and promotional installations where required.
Showroom Operations & Sales
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the showroom and ensure consistently high operational standards.
- Support the achievement of showroom sales targets and KPI performance.
- Implement and monitor KPI’s and sales targets for showroom advisors.
- Process retail and Trade customer orders, quotations and enquiries with accuracy and professionalism.
- Set up new Trade accounts and coordinate Trade showroom appointments where required.
- Provide customers with order updates, lead times and delivery information.
- Maintain and update showroom administrative records, including product tags, price lists and swatch stock.
- Monitor swatch and sample stock levels in coordination with the warehouse team.
- Track showroom KPI performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support the preparation of sales reports and provide feedback on customer insights and market trends.
Team Management & Development
- Manage, motivate and support a small showroom team with a positive and collaborative approach.
- Delegate tasks effectively and oversee day-to-day showroom responsibilities.
- Create and manage the showroom staff rota, including flexibility to provide cover at short notice when required.
- Conduct regular one-to-one meetings, performance reviews and training sessions.
- Organise and deliver product training for showroom, customer care and Trade teams.
- Encourage team development and create a supportive environment focused on progression and performance.
- Monitor customer interactions to ensure consistently high service standards are maintained.
Collaboration & Marketing
- Liaise regularly with Head Office regarding marketing campaigns, product updates and strategic initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with the Marketing, Product and Design teams to coordinate showroom campaigns, launches and promotional activity.
- Support initiatives to increase showroom footfall through social media activity and other creative local marketing opportunities.
- Share customer feedback with relevant departments to improve service standards and product offerings.
- Collaborate with wider departments to understand company priorities, product launches and upcoming campaigns.
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience in a Showroom Manager, Assistant Manager or Store Manager role.
- Strong sales and customer service experience, ideally within furniture, interiors or retail.
- Strong visual merchandising and showroom styling experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Commercial awareness with a strong understanding of customer experience and showroom presentation.
- Positive, proactive and self-motivated approach.
- Confident leadership skills with experience managing or mentoring a team.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Comfortable working weekends as part of a rota.
Interior design experience and the ability to conduct interior styling or design consultations would be advantageous.
