Job description

Location: Remote with travel when required including occasional attendance in Horncastle, Lincolnshire 

Salary: £45,000–£55,000 

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week


LIVES is looking for an ambitious and commercially minded Business Development Manager to help drive the growth of our income-generating services through strategic partnerships, contract opportunities and business development activity.


This is an exciting opportunity to help expand our reach across sectors including healthcare, emergency services, education, industry and beyond, while supporting a charity that saves lives every day.


Key Responsibilities


  • Identify and secure new large business opportunities, partnerships and contracts nationwide 
  • Develop relationships with prospective clients and key decision-makers 
  • Build and manage a strong pipeline of opportunities 
  • Lead strategic prospecting and market development activity 
  • Develop commercial propositions and service offerings 
  • Support bids, tenders, proposals and contract negotiations 
  • Work collaboratively across sales, operations, education and marketing teams 
  • Contribute to long-term organisational growth and positioning


Essential Experience, Skills and Attributes


  • Experience in business development, strategic sales or commercial growth 
  • Proven success in identifying and securing new business opportunities 
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills 
  • Experience developing proposals, bids and commercial responses 
  • Commercial awareness and strategic thinking 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Confident, credible and persuasive in external-facing settings 
  • Able to build trust and develop opportunities with senior decision-makers 
  • Highly organised and able to manage a varied pipeline of opportunities 
  • Collaborative, proactive and self-motivated 
  • Values-driven with a commitment to the charity's mission and ethos


Experience within healthcare, emergency services, training, consultancy, education or mission-led organisations would be advantageous.
