Job description

The Business Development Engineer (BDE) serves as the technical and commercial liaison between customers, engineering, and the field sales teams. This role supports the promotion and sale of electronic interconnect solutions from Amphenol Aerospace used in harsh environment, military and aerospace applications. The BDE provides technical expertise, product recommendations, application support, and design-in assistance to help customers successfully integrate Amphenol Aerospace products into their systems. This is a cross-functional role where a successful individual will work collaboratively with AAO product managers, engineers, and customer service.


Territory: United Kingdom & Nordics


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise on connectors, cable assemblies, and related electronic components
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with OEMs, integrators, and distribution partners
  • Assist customers with product selection, system integration, troubleshooting, and application design
  • Maintain CRM records, sales forecasts, and project pipelines on business sold directly, through subcontractors, or by way of distribution which will be reported to relevant parties of interest on a recurring basis
  • Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations, and training sessions for customers and channel partners
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities and design wins within assigned accounts and territories
  • Review customer specifications, drawings, and technical requirements to recommend appropriate solutions
  • Participate in trade shows, industry conferences, and customer visits


Education/Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics engineering, mechanical engineering, or related technical field
  • At least 5 years of experience in field applications engineering, technical sales, or electronic component sales
  • Knowledge of aerospace and defense interconnect systems, MIL-SPEC connectors, cable assemblies, or electronic packaging
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical design principles
  • Proficiency working with Microsoft Office software (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • The ideal candidate would have a working knowledge of Strategic Accounts, as well as a comprehensive understanding of what the customer’s end products are with an ability to identify their interconnect needs


This role will require frequent travel (50-60%) in designated territory.
