Senior Clinical Fellow / International Fellow Paeds/Neonatal Surgery
This is a full time post with on call commitments to general paediatric surgery rota. A candidate who is unable for personal reasons to undertake the duties of a whole-time post will receive due consideration. If such a candidate is appointed the job content will be modified as appropriate in consultation with service director, consultant colleagues and local management.

Main duties of the job
The post of Senior Clinical fellow in Paediatric and Neonatal Surgery will offer the post holder an exciting opportunity to develop their skills in all aspects of Paediatric general and neonatal surgery with a focused training with the gastro-intestinal team. The senior fellow will have the opportunity to learn intermediate and advanced skills in Paediatric GI laparoscopy and Paediatric diagnostic endoscopy. The senior fellow will participate in a 1:6 non-resident general paediatrics, Paediatric Urology and neonatal surgical on-call rota. The post holder will work at middle grade tier alongside two National Specialty Trainees in Paediatric Surgery (ST3-6), Senior Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Urology, and 2 Specialist Doctors.
Qualifications
Eligible for registration or hold registration with the GMC
MBBS (or equivalent)
MRCS /AFRCS or equivalent.
Completion of at least 3 years Higher Surgical Training (or equivalent) in Paediatric Surgery at time of interview)
BSc (or other intercalated degree)
FRCS (Paeds) or FRCS (And Neonatal Surgery)
Other higher degrees / qualifications
CLINICAL EXPERIENCE
Experience of working at multiple pediatric surgical centres in the last 5 years, at least 3 years as higher surgical trainee
Experience of commitment to Paediatric and Neonatal Surgery
Experience of Paediatric Intensive Care / Neonatology
Other relevant experience

Demonstrate clinical and operative skills at appropriate level
Understanding of clinical risk management
Competent to work without direct supervision where appropriate
Clear, logical thinking showing an analytical / scientific approach
Good manual dexterity and hand / eye coordination
KNOWLEDGE
Appropriate level of clinical knowledge in Paediatric and Neonatal Surgery
Shows knowledge of evidence informed practice
Shows awareness of own limitations
Technical skills and knowledge suitable for training (advanced and Neonatal Surgery module curriculum level)
Demonstrates use of evidence informed practice
Demonstrates breadth of experience and awareness in and outside specialty / medicine

Ability to prioritize clinical need
Understanding of clinical governance
Ability to organize oneself and own work
Experience and ability to work in multi-professional teams
Information technology skills including library searches
