We are looking for experienced, professional HGV Class 1 Drivers to join our busy Transport Team.This is an excellent opportunity for drivers who take pride in their work, enjoy variety in their role, and want to join a well-established family business that values reliability, safety and teamwork.What You'll Be DoingAs an HGV Class 1 Driver, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our products and equipment are transported safely, efficiently and on time.Your responsibilities will include:Operating HGV Class 1 vehicles safely and professionally at all timesTransporting goods securely while complying with all UK driving laws and transport regulationsCompleting vehicle checks, defect reporting and driver hour requirementsCarrying out a variety of trailer work, including refrigerated trailers, curtain siders, low loaders and containersCompleting delivery, collection and transport documentation accuratelyProviding excellent service to customers and colleaguesMaintaining high standards of vehicle cleanliness and presentationOperating a forklift or pump truck when required (training provided where appropriate)Occasionally driving our 30-seat company bus where requiredPlease note that vehicles are allocated according to operational requirements, so drivers are not assigned a permanent vehicle.What We're Looking ForEssential:HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) LicenceCurrent Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph CardPrevious experience operating HGV Class 1 vehiclesStrong understanding of driver hours, vehicle compliance and road transport legislationA positive, professional and safety-focused approachAbility to work flexibly to meet operational requirementsDesirable:PSV LicenceForklift experienceIf you don't currently hold a PSV Licence but are willing to gain one, we can provide funded training.Hours of WorkAverage 55-hour working week on a rolling shift pattern:Week 1: 5 days on, 1 day offWeek 2: 5 days on, 2 days offThis averages to one full weekend off in every twelve.Occasional overnight stays may be required, with additional overnight allowances paid.Pay & BenefitsCompetitive Rates£17.90 per hour for the first 40 hours worked£22.37 per hour after 40 hours workedAdditional overnight stay allowanceAdditional bonus payments for driving the company busAdditional BenefitsExtra day's holiday for every two years of serviceCompany pension schemeFortnightly payCompany accommodation available where requiredEmployee Assistance ProgrammePrivate GP serviceEyecare vouchersFree onsite parkingEmployee discount platformFree Will Writing opportunitiesFree English language trainingStudy sponsorship opportunitiesExtensive online learning and development platformWhy Join A C Goatham & Son?You'll be joining a successful, long-established family business with a strong reputation, a modern transport operation and a commitment to investing in its people.
