Field Clinical Technician

Urolase is looking for a Field Clinical Technician

Job description

Field Clinical Technician (Laser & Ultrasound)

Urolase | East Midlands | Avg. 5 days/week | Start date: ASAP

Urolase provides specialist urology equipment to private hospitals across the UK. We are looking for a Field Clinical Technician, based in the East Midlands, to join our growing team. This is a varied role combining hands-on clinical work with the chance to grow the business, and there is commission available on new business you help bring in.

You will spend most of your time in operating theatres, supporting consultant urologists during live procedures. That means setting up and operating our surgical lasers for procedures such as HoLEP and stone treatment, and running the ultrasound equipment used for prostate biopsies You are the person the theatre team relies on to have everything working, ready and right.

This is hands-on clinical work in a sterile environment. Away from theatre you will travel to hospital sites across your area, transport and prepare equipment, and carry out basic checks. You will also build strong relationships with the hospitals and consultants you work with, which is where the commercial side of the role comes in.

This role would suit a radiographer or sonographer

The ultrasound side of this job uses skills you already have. If you are a radiographer looking to step away from NHS shift patterns, with no nights and no weekend on-call, it is worth a look. We will also consider theatre nurses, ODPs and others who are comfortable in a clinical setting. Full training on our equipment is provided.

What you'll do

  • Set up and operate surgical lasers and ultrasound equipment during live urology procedures
  • Support consultants and theatre teams calmly and professionally
  • Build professional, lasting relationships with hospital teams
  • Help grow the business, with commission available on new business
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues on the spot
  • Travel to hospital sites, transporting and preparing kit (vehicle provided)
  • Carry out basic equipment checks and maintenance

What we're looking for

  • Comfortable in a clinical or theatre environment
  • Calm, organised and personable
  • Full, clean UK driving licence and willing to travel (the role is based in the East Midlands with travel to hospital sites)
  • Physically able to handle and move medical equipment
  • Able to pass an enhanced DBS check

  • Helpful but not essential: a radiography, sonography, theatre nursing or ODP background; experience with surgical lasers or ultrasound; previous medical device or field-service work.

    What we offer

    • Competitive salary (based on experience)
    • Performance-related bonus and commission on new business
    • Company performance based bonus
    • Pension contributions
    • Maternity/paternity pay
    • All travel expenses covered for overnight stays
