Trainee Branch Manager

Sage | Marketing Agency is looking for a Trainee Branch Manager

Job description

Trainee Branch Manager

Sage Associates

Birmingham City Centre | Full Time | On Site | Immediate Start Available

Starting base salary: £25,000 + weekly performance bonuses (See below the full breakdown)

Sage Associates is appointing ambitious future leaders to support the next stage of our UK expansion.

As a growing sales and marketing organisation, we have already established activity across key markets including Newcastle, Middlesbrough, Liverpool and Milton Keynes. Over the next 3 to 6 months, our objective is to expand into a further three UK markets. This growth creates a clear opportunity for commercially minded individuals who want to develop into branch management, client leadership and business operations.

This is a structured leadership pathway for someone who wants more than a conventional early-career role. You will be developed across the core areas required to manage a branch, including team performance, campaign delivery, client standards, sales operations, recruitment support, budget awareness and commercial decision-making.

We are not looking for someone who has already managed a branch. We are looking for someone with leadership potential, strong personal standards and the ability to grow quickly in a high-performance environment.

Sage Associates works across several major client campaigns, supporting brands within telecommunications, energy, automotive, food and beverage. Current client partnerships include BT/EE, E.ON, Mercedes and Milk & More. As you progress, you will gain exposure to how different client accounts are managed, developed and scaled across multiple markets.

Development pathway and responsibilities

Your progression will be based on performance, leadership capability, consistency and the level of responsibility you are able to manage.

Stage 1: Trainee Branch Manager

Starting base salary of £25,000 plus weekly performance incentives of £200 to £400.

At trainee level, you will begin by learning how to manage performance at team level. This includes campaign delivery, coaching, training, recruitment support, KPI management, sales performance and daily team development.

This is not a classroom-based training programme. You will be given practical responsibility from the beginning, working closely with senior leadership while developing the discipline, judgement and confidence required to manage people, campaigns and commercial results.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing daily campaign standards and performance expectations
  • Supporting team coaching, training and development
  • Monitoring KPIs, sales results and individual performance
  • Contributing to recruitment activity and team growth
  • Supporting client campaign delivery across live projects
  • Learning how to improve productivity, consistency and team culture
  • Building the leadership habits required to manage a high-performing team

Progression to the next stage is based on your ability to support and manage a strong team of around 10 people effectively.

Stage 2: Junior Branch Manager

Base salary increasing to £45,000 plus weekly bonuses of £300 to £500.

At Junior Branch Manager level, your development moves beyond team performance and into the operational side of the business. You will work directly with senior management to understand how a branch is run behind the scenes.

This includes exposure to HR, recruitment planning, payroll, budgeting, finance, legal processes, office administration, P&L reporting, client account management, campaign budgets and operational planning.

At this level, you will be expected to manage both people and process. You will begin to understand how commercial decisions are made, how client expectations are maintained and how a branch delivers sustainable performance.

Progression to Senior Branch Manager is based on your ability to manage a larger team of around 20 people while also executing the operational and commercial responsibilities required at branch level.

Stage 3: Senior Branch Manager

Base salary increasing to £65,000 plus additional performance bonuses.

At Senior Branch Manager level, you will be considered for one of two senior routes. You may have the opportunity to expand into a major UK city and manage a branch independently, or you may take responsibility for a major client campaign from our Birmingham operation.

At this stage, your responsibilities may include managing larger sales teams, overseeing client contracts, controlling budgets, supporting business development, reviewing performance reports, meeting potential new clients and managing long-term growth plans for key brand accounts.

Candidate profile

This role is suited to someone with leadership experience or clear leadership potential. That experience may come from employment, education, sport, hospitality, retail, sales, events, recruitment, customer service or another environment where you have been responsible for people, standards, results or team performance.

We are particularly interested in individuals who:

  • Have a strong work ethic and high personal standards
  • Think commercially and enjoy responsibility
  • Are confident communicating with different types of people
  • Can lead, coach or motivate others
  • Respond well to feedback and professional pressure
  • Are motivated by progression and performance-based growth
  • Have an entrepreneurial mindset and long-term career ambition
  • Want to understand how a business scales across different markets

This is a demanding role with high expectations. It requires resilience, flexibility, accountability and the ability to operate in a fast-moving environment. It will suit someone who wants to progress at a faster pace than a traditional corporate pathway and is prepared to earn that progression through performance.

Sage Associates is building its next generation of branch leaders from within. For the right person, this is an opportunity to join the business at a key stage of expansion and develop into a management role with real commercial responsibility.
