The Company
We are recruiting a Finance Assistant to join a growing social care services organisation supporting residential and domiciliary care operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially aware finance professional to take ownership of a varied portfolio, deliver high-quality reporting and support decision-making across a fast-paced and purpose-led business.
The organisation is continuing to grow and invest across its services, creating a broad and visible role within the finance team. You will work closely with key stakeholders, provide insightful financial information and play an important part in supporting operational and strategic growth.
The Role
This position sits within the sales ledger team and provides broader support for the Credit Control and Accounts Receivable function. It is a varied role suited to a proactive and organised Finance Assistant who is comfortable managing their own workload while supporting colleagues across the wider finance team.
You will need strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work to strict deadlines in a busy finance environment. The role also requires a professional and compassionate approach when liaising with elderly residents and their representatives, as well as flexibility to support changing business needs.
Applicants should have previous experience in a Finance Assistant role within a busy finance team and be IT literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, highly motivated and confident taking ownership of tasks while contributing positively to the wider team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of resident accounts, proactively chasing and collecting outstanding debts.
- Produce a weekly aged debtor report, including analysis of outstanding balances.
- Build relationships with home managers, families, local authorities and other key contacts to establish resident funding.
- Complete local authority account reconciliations, investigating and resolving queries.
- Carry out bank reconciliations accurately and on time.
- Maintain accurate resident records and ensure information is kept up to date.
- Provide support to colleagues where needed to ensure sales invoices are processed accurately.
- Support other colleagues across the finance team as appropriate.
- Undertake any other duties that may reasonably be required.
